Trench Coats

San Francisco cooled down a bit this week and I was finally able to pull out my favourite trench coats!  A good trench coat is a must in every woman’s closet and in San Francisco, I’m excited to be able to wear mine through the winter!  Below are two of my favourite trenches that are currently in my closet.  (Thank you to Farhan Khan who took the photos of me at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.  His photography blog will be launching soon!)

Though my trench coats above are no longer available, I have listed some of my favourites that are currently in stores below.

The most iconic of them all…

  • Burberry – The epitome of trench coats, which is currently at the top of my wish list!  (Hint, hint, Santa!)  With so many different options, I recommend going in to a boutique to get some advice from the wonderful SAs and try them on!  I also love looking at the Art of the Trench section on Burberry’s website to see the different styles and to get some styling inspiration!  With my blonde hair, I’m loving the black versions but the beige is so iconic and the red is to die for!  I want one of each!

If Burberry is out of your price range, there are a plethora of alternatives at all price points!

  • Zara – You’d probably be more surprised if I told you Zara didn’t have a great trench coat at a reasonable price point!  I recently saw this in stores and love it!  Great quality and fit and everything that you’d expect from a Zara piece!

  • Gap – A few years back, I scored the grey trench featured above at the Gap Factory store in Palm Springs for only $30!  I still wear it to this day so be sure to keep your eyes open for great deals around the holidays!  (I got mine in December 2012.)  I’ve also linked a classic version that is in stores now.  (Note:  Gap currently has an online promotion for 40% off your purchase with code WOW.  Don’t miss out!)

  • J Crew – At $300, this is at the higher price point for an ‘affordable’ trench but I believe that you get what you pay for with J Crew.  If there is one item that is worth investing in, I believe that it is a gorgeous trench that will last you forever!

  • Benetton – I don’t know why they don’t have their trench coats for sale on their website but I recently tried one on at their store in Sausalito and loved it!  Great quality for a very reasonable price!

Michael Kors – The two below are currently on sale for $227 and $137, a steal of a deal for Michael Kors!

The beige trench from Burberry is sooo perfect!! Me want!

I’ve tried the beige one on several times but think that something looks off with my blonde hair so I’m leaning towards getting the black one! The beige would look stunning on you though!!

Nice post! I totally love that kind of coats! They are very stylish and good for cold and rainy weather. I personally like the one from GAP. However I actually have one from Zara from last year ( looks like the same one you’ve posted). I would like to get one in dark blue so I’ll have a look to the shops you have mentioned. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the comment Mercedes! I love trench coats as well! I’m actually wearing a navy blue one today from the Banana Republic outlet store 🙂
