Sweaters, Because It’s Still Too Hot For Jackets

Continuing on with my fashion tips for San Francisco, I thought it would be appropriate to write about the significance of sweaters in this city!  It’s still too hot out to accessorize with jackets or scarves and I can’t get over the fact that I am actually upset by this!

Tip 2: Keep cozy, yet cool in lightweight knits

The weather in San Francisco can vary depending on a lot of factors.  Time of day, neighbourhood, proximity to water, air conditioned buildings, etc., all make layering necessary.  Now, we’ve all heard that layering is essential in this city, however, my version of layering typically includes sweaters, jackets and scarves to keep you warm in Canadian winters.  Layering in San Francisco, at least right now, involves lightweight sweaters over tees or tanks.  The good thing is that these pieces can last year round, as they are light enough to wear on a cool day in the summer or can be functional layering pieces underneath heavier jackets if you live in a cool climate.  Here are some of my recent favourites.

  • J Crew Factory Cashmere Cardigan – Comfortable and cozy!  I just love cashmere and the factory version is offered at a great price!
  • J Crew Factory Clare Cardigan – Only $26.50 and it comes in 16 different colours!  3/4 sleeve length and very lightweight.  (I recommend going a size up from normal in this cardigan unless you want it to fit super snug.)
  • Mango Haramon Cashmere Sweater – A cashmere blend but lightweight and comfortable! (Tip: Buy your regular size if you want it to fit as a long sleeve top and go up a size if you want to wear layers underneath.)
  • Express One Eleven Tunic Sweatshirt – If you haven’t tried One Eleven yet, you should!  It features extremely soft and luxurious fabrics for a very reasonable price!
  • Zara Open Work Sweater – You can dress it up or dress it down, wear it on its own or layer it, its a very versatile piece!
  • Zara Wrap Jacket – Comes in 4 different colours but I’m loving this khaki green for fall!  A longer lightweight sweater that is easy to throw on if you’re cool or take off if you’re too warm!

I’d love to hear some more recommendations on lightweight sweaters!  Comment or tweet me your faves!
