Investing in Quality Flats

Moving to San Francisco has brought several changes to my wardrobe.  Most significantly, as of October 21st, it is still hot enough to wear a sleeveless top outside without a jacket, whereas at home in Edmonton, I would have been in full on fall fashion mode by now!  I am also trying to dress more professionally in my business school setting and thus my wardrobe throughout the year will slowly evolve to be more office friendly.  With this being said, I’ve decided to launch a weekly series of fashion tips that I’ve found useful thus far in San Francisco.  Please comment or tweet me and let me know what you think!

Tip 1:  Invest in some quality flats

This statement may seem odd coming from me as I love high heels enough to name my blog Stilettos & Airplanes, however, my feet have been taking a beating since moving here.  I do a lot more walking on a daily basis and the streets aren’t very heel friendly.  For this reason, I’ve been wearing flats a lot more than ever, though I’ve discovered that not all flats are equal.  Some flats and even some of my runners have actually given me more blisters than my heels have so quality flats are key!  Good fit and soft leathers make the shoe most comfortable, as well as a small heel to elevate and cushion the foot.  I’m loving these ones in particular for this fall.

Side note:  Saks is offering up to $175 off your online purchase through Thursday, October 22nd with the code SAKS76 and the Nicholas Kirkwood and Chloé flats are included in this offer!  Don’t forget to also use the code FREESHIP to get free shipping as well!  Happy shopping!
